The issue of five ponds system in Batur village of Panchkula district. The idea and objective of the panchayat is beneficial, as it caters to the needs of irrigation facility of those small and marginal farmers who have been deprived of irrigation facility because of financial crunch. However, despite all these merits, the system needs more attention of the administration and stakeholders. The close areas are smeared with water hyacinth which can become hurdles in functioning of the system and lose its virtual efficacy and purpose. So removing of hynacith at proper intervals is necessary. The project needs to be analysed properly by experts. This is necessary so that this model can be adopted by other district in the state.

Shift Horticulture varsity from Anjanthali village
Referring to “Horticulture varsity gets wings”, in the columns of The Tribune March 26 edition, which proposed the campus at remote Anjanthali village in Karnal district. It is suggested that the proposed under construction main campus and college be shifted to 70-acre farm already owned by Maharana Pratap Horticulture University (MPHU) at Uchani, adjacent to the ISBT, Karnal. Otherwise, it may meet the same fate as HAU College of Agriculture at Kaul, which despite of having excellent campus facilities, lacks proper faculty and facilities.
