Scrap dealers have encroached upon highways at many places in Hamirpur district, but the authorities concerned have turned a blind eye towards this. The Hamirpur-Shimla bypass has been encroached upon by a scrap dealer. Piles of scrap can be seen on the berms of the road. This poses a grave risk to children going to their schools and others taking the road. The authorities concerned must act to clear the road berms. — Rahul Kumar, Hamirpur
No check on political leaders flouting Covid norms
Amid the rising Covid cases, the police have been penalising the common man for violating SOPs issued by the district administration. However, it seems that these SOPs are not applicable for ruling and opposition party leaders campaigning for the MC elections in Dharamsala. These politicians are holding meetings and visiting people’s houses in groups and generally most of them don’t even wear masks. The authorities should penalise the politicians as there cannot be two set of rules for the common man and those representing them. — Jayant Kumar, Dharamsala
